Bühlmann Hotels

At Bühlmann Hotels, we have one ambition: to set new standards for hospitality and guest experiences in Denmark. In our hotels, restaurants, and cocktail bars, the guest experience is at the heart of everything we do. Ensuring a restful sleep and exceptional cuisine is simply part of the experience.

History

Bühlmann Hotels was founded in 2007 when owners Anemette and Danni Bühlmann took over the manor hotel Scheelsminde in Aalborg, which has been in the Bühlmann family’s hands since 1960.

Since then, several more hotels have been  added  Today, we operate award-winning 5-star boutique hotels, 4-star design hotels, as well as manors and airport hotels across Denmark.

It all began in 1960 when Anemette’s grandparents, the charismatic Hugo Jensen and his wife, Swiss-born Aloisia Bühlmann, came to Northern Jutland. They arrived in Aalborg to manage the then ultra-modern and nationally renowned eatery Motel Aalborg, located on the historic manor Scheelsminde, which has remained in the family ever since.

Vision

We aim to be Denmark’s leading gastronomy and hotel company, in harmony with our values, the needs of our guests, and the developments in the world.

A vision reflected in everything we do at all our locations.

The vision is the essence of all our ambitions. In our ambition, we are not afraid to fail. The ambition should boost the organization with confidence and provide clear direction.

We aim to grow and, in the long term, be able to offer our hospitality and services beyond Jutland. Nationwide presence is our long-term goal.

In line with our ambitions, we aim to be leading in several areas. In hospitality. In people. In gastronomy. In sustainability and in innovation. Being a leader is not the same as being the best. We often are, but that is not a goal in itself.

At Bühlmann Hotels, gastronomy is not just about food. It encompasses everything we offer our guests to consume. It’s the way we select, prepare, present, and serve food and beverages, in harmony with our surroundings, the unique experiences our hotels create, and the needs of our guests.

We cannot be leaders if it means compromising our values. Our ambitions must not be so far-reaching that we forget our values or the needs of our guests, or undermine our financial flexibility.

“It reflects the fact that we don’t know everything, nor do we hold the patent on truth—whether it’s in relation to hotel operations, sustainability, or the evolution of gastronomy. Therefore, we must continuously seek inspiration from the world around us, and we are committed to staying attuned to global developments in order to consistently create impactful and lasting experiences for our guests.

Ambitious growth

Bühlmann Hotels is on an ambitious growth journey, aiming to expand the company to a nationwide presence by the end of 2026

The beginning of the growth journey started in 2011, when Bühlmann took over the management of the iconic manor Nørre Vosborg in Vemb near Holstebro.

The expansion continued in 2014 with the opening of Aalborg Airport Hotel. Just two years later, construction began on Peak 12 in Viborg, a 12-story landmark

A landmark for the city, Peak 12 was set to become the largest and most modern hotel in Viborg and its surroundings by the fall of 2021. In 2020, Bühlmann took over the management of the boutique hotel Villa Provence in Aarhus. In the spring of 2021, Bühlmann also assumed the operation of Slotshotellet in Aalborg, which, due to its location, has become an integral part of the new Aalborg waterfront and the city’s internationalization.

After a comprehensive renovation, Slotshotellet reopened in 2022, now as Pier 5 Hotel.

In 2023, the iconic Hotel Royal in Aarhus became part of the family and reopened after a complete renovation, respecting the building’s style, in 2024. The Airport Hotel in Billund will also join the hotel portfolio in 2023.

In 2024, the 5-star boutique hotel Herman K will join along with the historic Hotel Randers in Randers.
